The Campaign
The Alaska April-95 campaign was a NASA flight campaign aimed at mapping snow and ice and collecting measurements of first-year and multi-year sea ice. It included a single deployment in April 1995 across central to northern Alaska and the Bering Sea. The NASA ER-2 aircraft was equipped with the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS), Millimeter-wave Imaging Radiometer (MIR), High Resolution Interferometer Sounder (HIS), and Cloud Lidar System (CLS) to capture remotely sensed data of snow and ice. These measurements supported the validation of satellite observations of sea ice and snow cover.
