The Campaign
The Canadian CloudSat/CALIPSO Validation Project (C3VP) was a joint effort between NASA and Environment Canada to study winter precipitation and validate the CALIPSO and CloudSat satellites. C3VP had 1 deployment which occurred over Ontario, Canada during the boreal fall and winter from 2006 to 2007. Airborne and ground-based sensors were used to collect measurements of snow and cloud microphysical properties to help validate satellite observations of snowfall. NASA’s involvement with C3VP was funded through the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Mission and Precipitation Measurement Missions (PMM).
