The Campaign
The Costa Rica Aura Validation Experiment (CR-AVE) was a NASA campaign focused on studying the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere, as well as providing validation for the Aura satellite. CR-AVE had one deployment during January and February 2006 over Costa Rica. NASA's WB-57 aircraft was used to collect measurements of trace gases and aerosols in the tropical upper atmosphere. CR-AVE was part of the Aura Validation Experiment (AVE) and was funded through NASA's Atmospheric Composition and Radiation Sciences programs.
