The Campaign
The Olympic Mountains Experiment (OLYMPEX) was a NASA field investigation that collected airborne and ground measurements to validate precipitation satellite observations. OLYMPEX involved one deployment from November to December 2015 on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Several aircraft, including the NASA DC-8 and ER-2, gathered data on precipitation and cloud properties. Ground-based and balloon-borne observations were also conducted. OLYMPEX supported the Ground Validation (GV) effort for NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and Precipitation Measurement Missions (PMM).
