The Campaign
The Olympic Mountains Experiment (OLYMPEX) was a NASA field investigation that focused on collecting airborne and field measurements to validate precipitation satellite observations. OLYMPEX consisted of one deployment from November to December 2015 across the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Multiple aircraft including the NASA DC-8 and ER-2 collected measurements of precipitation and cloud properties. Ground-based and balloon-borne observations were also collected. OLYMPEX supported the Ground Validation (GV) effort for NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and Precipitation Measurement Missions (PMM).
