The Campaign
The Pacific 2001 Air Quality Study (PAC2001) was a field campaign in which NASA served as a significant participant. The main objective of PAC2001 was to study the formation, distribution, and source of particulate matter (PM) and ozone in the Lower Fraser Valley (LFV) in British Columbia, Canada. PAC2001 consisted of one deployment from August to September 2001 across the LFV. Ground-based measurements of PM, ozone, and trace gases were collected at field sites near the study region, while the Convair 580 and Cessna 188 aircraft flew overhead to collect similar airborne measurements. PAC2001 was primarily funded and led by Environment Canada.
