The Campaign
The Pacific 2001 Air Quality Study (PAC2001) was a field campaign with NASA served as a significant participant. The main goal of PAC2001 was to examine how particulate matter (PM) and ozone form, spread, and originate in the Lower Fraser Valley (LFV) in British Columbia, Canada. PAC2001 involved one deployment from August to September 2001 across the LFV. Ground-based measurements of PM, ozone, and trace gases were taken at field sites near the study area, while the Convair 580 and Cessna 188 aircraft flew overhead to gather similar airborne data. PAC2001 was mainly funded and managed by Environment Canada.
