The Campaign
The WB-57 Aerosol Mission (WAM) was a NASA field investigation that studied the chemical composition of aerosols in the upper atmosphere. WAM had one deployment based out of Ellington Field in Houston, Texas, during the boreal spring of 1998. NASA WB-57 aircraft was equipped with several in situ sensors such as Particle Analysis by Laser Mass Spectrometer (PALMS), Multiple-Angle Aerosol Spectrometer Probe (MASP), and the JPL Laser Hygrometer (JPL) to collect measurements of aerosol properties, chemical composition, and meteorological parameters. Complementary radiosonde measurements were also collected during the field investigation.
