The S-band Polarimetric (S-POL) Doppler radar is a transportable ground-based radar operated by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). It is a dual-polarization radar that measures reflectivity, Doppler velocity, and spectrum width to characterize precipitation and convective systems. S-Pol operates at a frequency of 2.7-2.9 GHz and has a beam width of 0.92 degrees. Its range spans from 150 to 675 meters, with a gate spacing of 37.5 to 150 meters.
