The Tunable Infrared Laser Direct Absorption Spectrometer (TILDAS) is an in situ spectrometer developed by Aerodyne Research. It measures gas concentrations by quantifying how much light the target species absorbs at a specific wavelength. TILDAS detects trace gases such as methane, nitrous oxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, and ammonia. The laser operates in the mid-infrared spectrum and is tuned to a wavelength specific to the target species. It provides measurements at a data rate of up to 10 Hz. TILDAS can be deployed on aircraft, ships, trucks, and other ground-based platforms.
