Overview
The Cessna Citation II is a twin-engine jet aircraft built by Cessna and operated by the University of North Dakota (UND). It has been modified for atmospheric research, with space for up to two pilots and multiple equipment operators and passengers. Side-by-side sensor ports enable several instruments to collect data at the same time. The Citation operates at a maximum altitude of 43,000 feet and can fly for up to 4 hours, giving enough time to test new instruments for commercial aircraft and conduct remote sensing observations for field campaigns.
