Overview
The DHC-3 Otter is a single-engined, high-wing propeller aircraft developed by De Havilland Aircraft Company of Canada. It is a short take-off and landing (STOL) utility aircraft typically used for bush operations and has been used for research purposes. The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) owns and operates DHC-3 for research missions over the Arctic and Alaska. The DHC-3 has a maximum range of 830 nmi, a maximum speed of 160 mph, and an endurance of around 9 hours. It has a service ceiling of about 18,800 feet and can carry a capacity of twelve people (two crew and ten passengers).
