Overview

The S.S. Meridian was a steam turbine ocean liner built by the Italian manufacturer Cantieri Riuniti dell’Adriatico (C.R.D.A.). It measured 702 feet in length and 94 feet in width, with a top speed of 27 knots and a capacity for 1,750 passengers. The Meridian was used during the Tropospheric Aerosol Radiative Forcing Observational Experiment (TARFOX) campaign to collect radiometric measurements across the western Atlantic Ocean.
