Overview

The R/V John Martin is a vessel built in 1985 by Westport Boat Builders and originally used for charter fishing. It was later equipped as an oceanographic research vessel and is now operated by Moss Landing Marine Laboratories of San Jose State University. The R/V John Martin is routinely used for CTD deployments and recoveries, is capable of carrying twelve scientists plus crew members, and has a cruising speed of 15-20 knots and a range of 400 nautical miles.
