Overview
The Slocum Glider is an autonomous underwater vehicle developed by Teledyne Webb Research. It is launched from a research vessel and remotely collects water column profile data. It can operate for up to 30 days, travel as far as 1500 kilometers, and function at depths from 5 to 1000 meters. Slocum gliders are well-suited for subsurface sampling and are utilized in coastal, offshore, icy, and extreme water conditions.
